New 64Bit version of windows for Core 2 Duo E6750?

I'm about to start a computer upgrade and the thought occured to me do I need a new 64bit version for windows XP if I'm to change from an old AMD processer (definatly not 64bit) to a new Core 2 Duo E6750?

You can go to Windows XP 64 but you don't need to.
Your processor is 64 bit capable but it has backward compatibility to 32 bit so you can run either one.
