I'm a bit curious to find out which programs are currently multi-thread optimised for Linux. Maybe if we can produce a decent amount of information, it might be worth sticking this topic Just a few programs I'd like to know about off the top of my head are K3B, GIMP, Wireshark, VMWare Server, Blender, OpenOffice, Python/IDLE and kTron
The main reason I brought this topic up is to work out if one is better getting a quad core processor or a higher clocked dual core, the dependent here is the programs the user uses, so if we can work out which programs are optimised, it will make things a bit easier
