IBM promises cooler chips with capillary-action and water jets

Published on October 27, 2006

IBM's Zurich labs have developed a new heatsink and water-cooling that promises to cool chips up to six times better than conventional air cooling. The heatsink contains tiny channels similar to the capillaries you would see in tree leaves and in human circulator systems. The channels allow either water or heatsink compound to spread more uniformly and thereby dissipate more heat. Read more

More Information

Hey guys I'm trying to put together a new system and I'd like to build it water cooled so I can upscale my friends and have something I can use for a long time.

Anyway I have no idea how to even begin to build a water cooled system and I was checking on NewEgg and I can't seem to find a case that comes with a water cooled system already installed, so should I just grab a case, and if so which one, and then grab a water cooling system off new egg and read the directions and hope for the best on the install or what?

Thanks for your help.

[url=www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54331]Xtremesystems.org Forums[/ur] has a lot of great info. You should really start looking at some of the WC FAQs there, too. You need to make ask yourself whether extreme performance or quiet is your final goal. Once you've made that decision then remember that goal when doing your research. If you're interested then I have some links to threads that I thought were really interesting when I was researching.
