I built a new system with Vista Home Premium, and Im having some problems with USB storage devices. Vista recognizes the USB devices, but does not properly install the drivers for them. I have tried a USB thumbdrive, and a USB external hardrive, both of which do not have drivers available, and are supposed to be fully supported in Vista. I have tried both devices on another computer with Vista Ultimate, and they work properly.

Did you try unplugging it and replugging it in? Vista doesn't reconise my Corsair USB stick on the first plug in, but works if I take it out and try again. Does this on any pc with Vista the first time I plug it in.

Works everytime now.

Yeah, I've tried that multiple times with no avail. I have also tried different USB ports.

I fixed the problem, for some reason there was no usbstor.inf file in the c:windows/inf folder. I copied it over from my working Vista box, and now USB storage devices work.
