Within the last 24 hours my whole Vista experience has gone to crap. Internet Explorer 7 will not connect or bring up any web pages. I keep getting not connected and/or bad address messages. Outlook 2007 will not connect to any of my mailboxes or send any messages. I can not use Windows Update.
I was on the phone with AT&T for over 4 hours and they couldn't help. All the lights on my modem are on. Everything is good according to AT&T. At first I thought it was my onboard NIC and I purchased a new one. Still no good. I installed FireFox and Thunderbird and they both work perfectly. I can get on the internet and do everything I was doing. Any reason why all of a sudden all my MS products would stop connecting to the internet??
After some research, it seems a recent Vista update may be causing this problem.
You can uninstall patches through the Control Panel, Programs and Features, then "View installed updates" on the left pane. The problematic update appears to be:
I've linked the name to the relevant Microsoft information page - this appears to be an Internet Explorer cumulative security patch. There may be an individual fix contained within this that is causing your problem, in which case you will want to install the others.
Let me know if uninstalling that helps at all...this update is recent so that might fit your time-frame of issues. Be sure not to have Windows Update on automatic check/install to prevent it from reoccurring so you can test this.

I have uninstalled the update and still the issue remains. I have run HiJackThis and can get the log for those who are knowledgeable about the results. Windows Defender found nothing. AVG didn't either. I haven't run SpyBot because it can't resolve the server to get the updates >.<
Does tomshardware resolve to an IP address and ping?
But if other non-MS browsers work, it might be a setting you changed?
What changes have you made to your computer recently? What did you do when this started happening? Updates, program installs, downloads, etc?

I can not get tomshardware or google to resolve to an IP address nor get a ping out of it
The only thing I have changed is getting some Microsoft Updates. That is all.
Here is the HiJackThis:

If you can access the Spybot page - ask the question in their forums. They have some pretty clued up folks that can assist you. You may have picked up an infection of some sort....
