Do I need a small initial partition for a boot manager?
I want to do a dual boot of Ubunta and WinXP on my laptop.

Or do I just need two separate partitions for each OS?

Register or log in to remove.

install GRUB onto /dev/sda or /dev/hda then make 3 partitions

/dev/sda1 /boot 128MB ext3

/dev/sda2 /windows 100GB or 50% of your disk NTFS

/dev/sda3 / 100GB or 50% of your disk ext3 ubuntu partition
