All Core 2 chips overclock well. People just like the e6600 because if you figure out the price of performance it is the best deal. But all of them pretty much are great overclockers. My e6400 it OCed to 3.2GHz some people have the e6600 and only OC to 3.0 or less. Just get GOOOOD cooling and you will be set. Check out the anantech site under the cooling section. They have charts with the best coolers for Core2's. Thermalright has the best with their ultra-120 and extreme and then there is teh Tuniq Tower.
Also seemes the cooler is heatsinks only don't you need a fan. Also the e6600 is a Intel P4 LGA775 correct? On another note this doesn't help me with my motherboard. Which one should I get?
Thermalright does not package a fan with any of their coolers. You have to pick one out for yourself. Sythe as really good quiet ones. LGA 775 is just the socket type. Core2's and P4's are nothing alike. The Core2 needs an LGA775 socket and the motherboard to support it. As far as a motherboard.. What features do you want? do you need SLI.. Crossfire? the best standard motherboard you can probably get is the Gigabyte DS3. It's about $100 now and will overclock great and is stable as anything. If you have no intention of SLI or more than onve video card.. get a solid $100-$150 motherboard and put your $$ toward a better vid card, or memory or something that is more useful.

I had heating issues with mine, at stock, and with a good HSF, I could overclock my e6600 to at least 3.2 (On the mark) fairly stable.
You had heat issues at all stock? that is odd. WHat sorta heat issues? Do you live in death valley with no A/C? that might be a problem.
Tennessee, It was early feb, when I built the computer, and started measuring the TJucntion heat, It was between 80oC to 83oC at stock with the stock HSF, on Coretemp with Orthos running. So I bought a HSF that was bigger and most people were getting huge heat drop, and the heat dropped to about 45oC under the same load.
At 3.2 Ghz, I was running about 60oC, stable, and I decided to stop there, because I just wanted to see if I could at least get that speed for overclocking latter, so I didn't play too much with the voltages to see if I could get the heat down more.
