How would I go about taking the contents of a DVD (movie), editing out the menus and other extras and change it to xvid or dvi at around 700 mb?

Also I would like to know how create an ISO file that would include all of the contents of said DVD so that it would quickly and automatically burn to DVD.

I have NERO, is that a decent piece of software, or should I DL something else? Thanks for the help!

Nero is a good software but it does not compress to xvid or dvi other than mp4, Size depends on how much it can compress it to, And up to High Deff. on newer Nero as long as your dvd is not have encryption protection.

My old dvd movies like Benhur, Sinbads does not have protection and therefore nero can compress it easily. nero MP4 format is much better than most format and it's easy to use. I'm using nero 6 OEM came with my DVD burner so I can't say about nero 7 or the Ultra. Note that mp4 is not widely supported as the avi or wmv format.

If your DVDs have protection then you should look somewhere else, since you may not get help here.

head on over to www.anythingbutipod.com they have a good guide on how to get movies on your mp3 player, that takes a dvd and coverts into a .avi file of almost any size you want
