Most people don't realize that cd burners can't support all the new formats coming out. That's why they make firmware upgrades. Just go to your cd-rom drive manufacturers website and they should have firmware for you to download...if not just search around via google. Make sure you flash the right one though!...you need to search via your model numbers....you can find that by right clicking your cd rom drive and click hardware. It should tell you the model of your cd drive.

I ll check it out, the thing is that i did not install any new software or anything in that time, and just all of a sudden one day this happened, about 3 days before this i did burn succesfully a cd without any issues, ill check it out, but i think i have the latest firmwae, since there were no new ones for a while, im using a Yamaha F1 Burner(oldie, but good...so far)

Was it a brand new cd you were burning too?...Such as running out of cd's and buying some new ones and they didn't work?...or were they the same cd's that you've been using (not re-buying them...but still had some left over)?

I used the same cd's that I used to, I did not install any software, nor new hardware, this just happened out of the blue, and honestly I just have no idea what is teh issue , its teh first time I do encounter such a thing.

If you were using the same cd's that you have been (leftovers that is...cause with time brands do change cd formats) using and encountered a problem like this...There's a chance your drive might slowly be dying. But it's hard to say for sure. Does it's operations slow down on reading cd's as well? or is it performing perfectly on reading behavior?

works as usual while reading, I see no difference, its just not working when it comes to burning, at the beggining i thougt it was a problem of a dirty lens(since i only used it to burn, not read) , so i cleaned the lens, but it did not help. Im quite surprized, since during that nearly 2 years (or more) that i had the drive, i did not use it so much, maby once a month or les frequently, just for some major backups) and it was the only drive to always work(my oldie pioneed dvd reader's tray stopped working almost after a year so i had to replace the rubber band in side, but it still woks ... for more than 6 years now, during which i think i replaced teh rubber band about 5 times or so....but it still works), and the yamaha drive never had a single problem with itselfe, it was quiet, the try always worked, was reliable,....untill the time it stopped burning.
