Microsoft officials have confirmed an earlier TG Daily report about High Definition playback on Windows Vista. At the Tech. Ed 2006 conference in Sydney Australia yesterday, Microsoft's Senior Program Manager Steve Riley told an audience that 32-bit Vista would not natively play back high-definition content from Blu-Ray or HD DVD. Riley said content protection was too easily bypassed with unsigned and malicious drivers. Read more
Plextor today announced that it will be shipping its first Blu-ray writer for PC in October of this year. The PX-B900A is an internal ATAPI drive that will include software to playback Blu-ray movies on computer systems with Windows XP and Vista. Read more
