NEC's new multicore CPU can thread non-threaded applications

Published on December 19, 2005

I'm helping someone setup a new laptop and trying to get Activesync to
work with his Pocket PC. You can synchronize items like Notes, Inbox,
Calendar, etc. automatically when you plug the device in. The
interface for this is obvious enough - under Options you can check
which items you want synced up automatically. Unfortunately, as soon
as I unplug the device and plug it back in, Activesync forgets which items it
was supposed to synchronize automatically. More specifically, it
won't remember to synchronize Inbox, Contacts, or Calendar (the items
I most care about) but will remember other items like Notes.

So as of now, each time I plug the Pocket PC into the laptop, it will
sync up stuff like Notes automatically, but if I want to have it
synchronize Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, I must go to Options and check
all three of those. Then it will synchronize all of them correctly.
Next time I plug it in, I must do the same thing again. Kind of a
pain.

The owner of this laptop claims he didn't have to do this with his old
laptop and this same Pocket PC. Any suggestions? I've already done
some web surfing and poked around help sections to no avail.

Thanks,
Andrew

Activesync 8.0? That's your problem mate, that version hasn't even been
written yet, so it's bound to cause problems.

I'm not sure what the actual cause may be, but I'd guess it has to do with
the PDA having a previous partnership with a different PC. I'd suggest you
delete the existing parthnership in Activesync, then create a new one,
choose the "set up a partnership with only this computer" option in the
partnership wizard.
