Hi guys
Before posting I've searched for similar thread without finding one.

I had a deal on a Gateway MT6704H laptop and it came with vista

I don't want to use Vista so I've decided to put Xp on it
After loading specific SATA drivers found on the gateway support page, I've been able to see the HD and launch the installation. Everything was fine but when I try to boot my new XP, I get a blue screen with a Stop 0x0000007 error. I've tried different XP cds and I've also updated my Bios to the latest version (which is supposed to be compatible with Xp).

I'm now thinking about returning that laptop.
If anybody can help
I would appreciate

Thx

If you have Vista Ultimate or Vista Business, put Vista back on your machine and try installing an XP virtual PC from within VISTA.

Thx for the advice

But 1 gig of ram with a shared memory video controler... vista + XP
Sounds like it's gonna be slow

I want to use that laptop with science softwares and some audio softwares like Live and Reason
I'll try this virutal PC
But I'm pretty sure it's gonna be too slow

Anything I can do to fix my blue screen?

yeah, I thought about your bluescreen. My search lead to a memory problem. You mentioned the onboard video chipset. i just wonder if that may be the source of the poblem, but I don't know.
