Microsoft.net 2.0 Fails to install!

I need help mircosoft.net 2.0 will not install and i really dont know why i took a picture of the error message it gives me...

i apparently need MS.NET to play Medieval 2 total war which i was hoping to get back into after the latest patches.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Have you tried downloading all available updates for your computer from Microsoft?

.Net 3.0 is out now, and it installs on top of 2.0.

Try downloading that and see how it works.
