So i had vista and it was working great but then i had to go and screw around and shrink the drive and install xp. now only xp will load and vista uses a new bootloader which is much too confusing for me. And to make things worse none of my drivers work with xp. How do I get vista to load again without having to do a full factory restore so I can get xp off!! Thanks for your help!

Solution
You can try a repair of the Vista installation with the Vista CD. You have likely corrupted your boot files. A repair should fix those files.

Yea only thing is evil best buy didn't let me have an actuall copy of the vista cds when i bought the laptop, so i've backed up my files and am just doing a factory system restore (they include a 9gb partition to reset everything to the way it was the day you bought it). It's nice that everything you need is all in the user files.
