Want to use a Foxconn a7vmx-k for my next middle of the road Debian Etch build (1 SATA, ATI x300) okay ?

Foxconn don't have the best of reputations, reliability wise, and there were problems running Linux on some Foxconn motherboards. However, on the plus side, they quickly released an updated BIOS to correct this.

Having said that, I'm posting this from a Fedora installation running on a Foxconn 6150M2MA motherboard and I've never had any problems whatsoever (and it was very cheap).

ijack is right some Foxconn boards are very bad, others are ok.

If you update your BIOS and your model is one of the ok ones, you should be fine
