My brother just got my dad a 19 in widescreen lcd. He didn't know about native resolution and my dad's failing eyes just can't handle 1440 x 900. He does much better on the widescreen equivalent of 800 x 600. (Can't remember what that is...960 x something I think) The problem is that the samsung syncmaster does not scale down well. It looks terrible on anything but the native. The text is blurry and almost unreadable. I know there are lcd's out there that DO scale well and I was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions. Something around 19 in. and widescreen would be preferable.

Gateway scales great with the built in scaler it has. (iDCM?)

Note: You can always adjust the font size, and icon size and all will be fine in the world.

Why not just increase the default DPI scaling settings in Windows? If you're running Vista, just right click on desktop and select properties. On the left side you'll see Adjust Font Size (DPI). You can do this with XP as well, accept the DPI settings are located in a different (but similar) place and I'd have to turn my laptop on for that. BUT, it's bed time! Nightie night... hope that advise helps. :)

p.s. - There are all KINDS of optimizations you can do with Vista... you can even optimize for blindness in the ease of access section.
