CPU versus GPU Chart?

So I see posts where folks ask about being CPU-limited or GPU-limited. The answers are pretty much guesses as to if this CPU will be enough for this video card.

My question is: Is there a chart for the recommended CPU for a given GPU?

For example what is the fastest video card I can use on a Celeron 1.8ghz before being CPU-limited? Or "what if" I have a P4 2.4c? Or a P4 3.4? Or an AMD 2400+? How about a PII 600mhz?

Yes, I could give a specific CPU and someone say - not CPU-limited, or CPU-limited. But ask 10 people get 10 different answers.

So is there a recommended CPU for a given GPU chart anywhere? Or is it strictly a trial and error, or judgement call thing? How do we know that any CPU will not CPU-limit an 8800? Just keep thowing CPUs at it till we find out where it flat-lines?
