I have VM workstation running a virtual machine of Ubuntu server 8.10 and also desktop version.

I stumbled upon ati drivers for Linux, but I would wonder if they would work with a virtual environment.

I know VM can use the Host soundcard, USB, etc but will it be ok with the driver and the graphics card I have rather then a emulated card?

I hope I make sense?

Steven

If I understand your question, the answer is "No". You have to use the drivers supplied by VMWare for the emulated hardware.

Why ati? The emulated graphics is VESA-based VMware card...

Probably because he wants accelerated graphics for his desktop install running under the VM. Sorry but no VM solution that I have played with lets you do this :( Yet....

I hate how they have Dx9 accelerated graphics in most of the Mac emulators =P
