I recently put together my new computer (specifications below) and amazingly the rig booted up with no rearranging/fixing/rewiring required. I popped in my Vista OEM Home Premium DVD and since I had somewhere to be, left it to install itself once it was through the prompting phase. I get back a while later, hoping to see my new Vista desktop in all of its Aero glory but instead find a screen saying:
Netio.sys blah blah blah Status 0xc0000221 blah blah file is missing or corrupt
I haven't had a chance to reinstall Vista because I'm currently at work. Should a reinstall fix the problem? Has anyone else had this problem?
I've Googled the issue but can't find anything on how to resolve the problem and was hoping someone with more knowledge about Vista (which is almost anyone) had an idea of how to fix the problem.
Thank you all in advance for any tips/tricks or ideas.
This is probably a problem with either the media (bad disk, or picky optical drive) or with some hardware. In the first case, I would try to reinstall first, and if that fails consider using a different drive or disk (if possible). As it points to the Netio.sys file, in the second scenario it may be related to a network device (i.e., ethernet). My suggestion in that case would be to remove all devices possible from the computer, and to disable on-board LAN/audio in BIOS to see if that helps.
