If i use AVG antivirus and AVG Anti-Spyware with Windows Firewall will i be ok? Do I really need to pay for the securtiy suites that have there own firewall?

I've ZoneAlarm free version for years and never had a problem. One of the best features is that it will not programs connect to the NET without your permission. Just watch during install because you'll be asked if you want to install the trial version or free version.

Also try Comodo, it's rated as the best free firewall out there. I also want to know, are firewalls necessary compared to Windows Firewall? Just for web-surfing and gaming, sorry for hijacking thread. :hello:

I would not trust any Microsoft security software. Given the prevalence of Windows, hackers will go after Windows and other Microsoft programs first. Regardless, you absolutely need to use a firewall. Bad guys are always trolling for unsecured computers

comodo uses less reosurces than ZoneAlarm and both are equally good. But the sweetspot is zonealarm for most
