I originally had some patriot extreme DDR800 that was supposed to be very good at OC but I could only get mine to go about DDR850 or soo, with even the loosest timings. I just settled for DDR835. So i traded up for some crucial ballistix DDR1000 and I havent been able to get it to boot at anything over DDR900. And it only booted there once then after restart it went into a rebooting till default cycle. I reverted back to the DDR835 setting I ran my patriot on and it seems fine.

Just wondering "what gives?"

Is the DS3 rev3.3 problematic with the E4300 and high end or overclocked memory?

Keep in mind that this is my second DS3 board. The first one, the lan chip went out after a month. So I RMA'd. But the first one had the same issue so I though I simply had a bad batch of Patriot. But now with the second DS3 and both the Patriot extreem, and Ballistix would seem to be stuck at the same spot/issue.

I have only been messing for about 30 minutes, so I will let you know if I figure anything out. But for now I need some quick answersz. I basically have just been trying a fsb of 266 and 4x memory, 300fsb and 3.33x, and 334fsb and 3x memory multi. Memory V. set at 2.1v or 2.3v (read from speedfan) which is +.3v and +.4v respectively in bios. But it wont boot and any of these. Both FSB V and MCH V have been set to +.3 to make sure. But doesnt matter. Still wont boot at DDr1000.

What latency values are you using?
Also, sometimes boards have "islands of stability", so you might want to try shooting for a memory data rate 50 or 100MHz higher and see what happens.

Im using the 5-5-5-15 and everything else left on auto.

DS3 rev 3.3
E4300
Ballistix DDR1000

I know for a fact that my E4300 runs stable @ 3.0Ghz. about 3.2ghz is its max.
But, so far, I cant get these Ballistix to run DDR1000 5-5-5-15 unless I drop my overclock down to 2.25ghz. 9x250fsb and a 4x memory multi. This settup doesnt seem to want to post using any of the multipliers between 2.5 and 4x

They booted at fsb 275 x 4 DDR1100. A couple time anyways. A couple time they didnt. but when I move to a fsb of 280 and try to drop the memory multi to 3.33x, 3.0x, 2.66x it wont post. And upping the MCH, FSB and DDR voltages doesnt seem to help. I have not tried every singe fsb and multiplier option yet as this will take a long time.

It seems that I can run 3ghz, or ddr1100, but not both at the same time. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
