Hello,

I want to learn linux. I know nothing about the os. I want to read first and try os on hand later. Can you advise me what books ( like dummy series) i should pick. I prefer the book that comes with the os. I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks.

The best way to learn is to download one or more Live CDs or DVDs and use them as well as read the documentation that comes on the CDs and DVDs. With a Live CD or DVD you don't have to install anything on your computer.

The Linux documentation Project, Wikipedia and google should answer most of your questions.

Linux distributions also have "man" ( manual ) pages and "info" pages that come with the OS.

Yeah use the Live CD/DVD to see if it works and you like it. If you need suggestions Ubuntu is a amazing distro and it's very user-friendly. I'm using right now.

Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 8.10 are some of the best desktop / workstation / server distributions.

Both are quite user friendly and both offer live CDs.
