I installed windows xp pro SP2 on my friends computer- with the installation going smooth. Now sometimes when he boots up his comp and goes into the desktop - his comp theme changes into something windows 2000 esque and the computer immediately restarts. Sometimes it load the desktop wallpaper and then immediately restarts. What is causing this?

Disable 'Restart on Error'. Start in safe mode and look at Event Viewer.
