Strange internet problem in ubuntu 8.10

so when im in ubuntu 8.10 i sometimes get randomly kicked off my wireless internet connection and it tries to reconnect but it can't until i restart my machine otherwise i have no internet. any ideas on what is causing this? no one else on the wireless network is getting kicked off.

Assuming your wireless interface is wlan0, open a terminal

sudo su -

ifdown wlan0
ifup wlan0

See if that helps when you lose the connection.

lowest i have gotten is 57% but the connection stays about upper 70's to mid 80's

I kind of get the same problem, my internet just randomly drops. Then after a couple minutes it automatically reconnects. The status never shows that it's disconnected, it always looks connected, but none of my internet services work. (browser, msn) I think it has something to do with my own router and ubuntu, because this doesn't happen at my school, and other wireless connections in my house have no problem. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. My router is a D-Link DIR-625, and I'm running Ubuntu 9.04.

After this happens, open a terminal, run dmesg and PM me the output.
