I just installed WinXP Pro last night on my new system build. For some reason, during the install process it only recognized about 127GB of free space on my 320GB hard drive. I assumed that was a temporary glitch, but apparently not as once I finished the install and all the updates, the glitch remained.

What can I do to get access to all the space on this hard drive?

Thank you.

What Service Pack? XP needs SP1 or SP2 to work with large HDs. Check Disk Manager now.

The disk I have has no service packs included with it. Am I out of luck?

No, just slipstream SP2 into it and create a new install CD.

Install SP2 and see if you can then access the remainder of the drive and create a logical drive for data storage.

I tried that the first time around and adding SP2 later didn't allow access to the rest of the drive. I am in the process of using nlite to create a slipstream with SP2 integrated but it seems to be missing a file during setup and cancelling the setup. I'm going to try another program to slipstream and if that doesn't work I'm not sure what to do.

If you try re-installing your original CD, but only make a 70Gb primary partition, then see if you can use the remainder of the drive after installing SP2.

Looks like I got Autostreamer to properly slipstream SP2 onto a disk. In the process of formatting the 320gb drive in its entirety now.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.
