More Information

Greetings,

Depending on how I get to the pagefile data, I am presented with different information.

I have included a link to a screen shot, below.

I usually have way too many pages in IE7 open, AND Outlook, AND Photoshop...and and and...

I have 512 MB RAM (can't add more), running XP Home, on a Sony Vaio laptop, with a 60 GB drive partitioned into C and D, an external 80 GB Drive via firewire lettered G and H, and a 320 GB sata drive run through a PCMCIA adapter lettered S.

After reading extensively, I have attempted to set my pagefile on the D drive as 2 min and 50 max, and then 1024/1024 on the G drive. I think I want to pagefile to be on the external drive. I only have one firewire port and the rest are USB 1.0's. I think I want the pagefile running through the firewire on G and my Photoshop "scratch disc" on the bigger S drive.

I'm not sure which is faster, the firewire or the PCMCIA adapted to the sata drive.

I'm not sure if I should split-up the allocated pagefile sizes, or just put 2-50 on one drive and 1024/1024 on the other.

But my MAIN concern is the different data reports...and my inability ro resize and relocate the pagefile.

If I go to the settings by right-clicking My Computer / Properties, etc. it shows me 766 currently allocated. (Yes, I hit "set" and re-booted when attempting the changes).

If I get to the setting by going through Administrative Tools / Computer Management, etc., it shows that there are ZERO (0) MB currently allocated.

Using another utility (Gleary – System Info), I see that the 766 MB is on the C drive!!!

What's up with that? What should I do? Any clues?

(if it is too small to read...click to zoom..."Currently allocated" on the left is 766, on the right is 0.)
