Windows 95 programs will not print or save to drive a:

windows 95 boots in normal mode with no conflicts on my 386 acer/open built in 1996. After a long rest period about 2 years, the machine no longer will save or move files from programs to drive a: . I cannot print to my local printer because the printer will not communicate with the computer. everything seems to check out in device manager with no conflicts except there is no ports installed for the printer, lpt1. How do I get drive a: and ports operational again?

I would try opening up the computer, blowing out all the dust, spiders, etc. with compressed air, then reseat all the cards, memory, power connectors, and ribbon cables.
