Hey guys, hope someone could help. Tried Google searchs but really not sure what the right keywords would be.

I've bought an Acer PC, the price was right and it does what I need it to. I hate all the extra stuff they jam these retail machines with so I've gone through and uninstalled everything I could find that was Acer related. I've gotten everything EXCEPT for two issues, which I'm assuming are related.

ISSUE 1 - Hidden Partition

There is a hidden 4gig(ish) partition on the disk. I can see it in Partition Magic, I can delete it, format it, unhide it and set a drive letter to it in Partition Magic. After this is all done, I can go into My Computer and there is the new drive. I can copy files to and from it. HOWEVER, when I reboot, once I'm back into windows the partition is hidden / inactive again. If I go back into Partition Magic, I can unhide and activate it, and the data I copied onto is still there. I assumed this was being done by a Service, but I'm having trouble finding which one.

ISSUE 2 - LOG IN ACER SPLASH SCREEN

Well, when Windows XP finishs loading and actually starts up, and BEFORE the log in screen, I get a few seconds where it looks like Windows is working on something, however the desktop BG is an Acer bg. After a few seconds, I get the log in screen and everything else is normal.

I'm ASSUMING these two are related, and that there is some kind of service I've missed which is responsible. I'd really appreciate any help.

PS, yep I know I should format / reinstall but I'm planning a Vista upgrade in about 3 or 4 months and I don't want to format twice in such a short span, I have a lot of software I'd have to reinstall / patch etc.

Here is a HijackThis log, hope someone can spot something (I really can't read these logs very well).
