i know this one All USB hdd are formatted in FAT32 you can only save files upto 4gb

the fix

for users how can follow it propery
convert x: /fs:ntfs (x as in your drive letter and Lable is case senitive if it asks)

press n then y and reboot (thats if it asks if not it convert strate away)

for more novis users

did not state what windows you was running but should not matter
XP start > run > type cmd > press enter
Vista (long winded mode) click start All programs > Accessories > Right click on command line and click Run as administrator > accept UAC msg

now find out what the drive letter is and the Name of that disk (my computer)
type convert x: /fs:ntfs > press enter (NOTE >> x: << is e.g. but your disk name in there)
it may ask for the drive letter name if so enter it (it is case senitive) press enter
you will get this msg most likey
{{ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.}}
press N and then enter
then it ask do you wish to do it on system restart press y then enter
then just reboot you pc like norm (do not turn off or unplug the USB hdd disk or not convert it allso do not skip the disk check)

once you done this it support any file size and if you ask why do thay format it as fat32 its so any one from windows98 or higher or an MAC can use them with no problems (formated as NTFS quite sure thay cant read NTFS on an mac pc)
