i thought id set up a password for my aspire one linux version, turned it on and press F2, enter a password them switched it off and back on to see if it works, BUT TO MY SURPRISE when i input my password it says password check fail.

please help me

Can I just clarify, is the password the first thing you get prompted for when you turn on or do you see the splash screen load and then get a password prompt. It sounds from the description as if you might have set a BIOS password not one in Linux.

Either way it can be fixed.

Splendid
Like audiovoodoo said it sounds like the BIOS password. Check your manual on how to reset your BIOS password, usually you have to set a jumper to reset it.

Good luck :)

additionally look like u have notebook ACER aspire (because the H.D.D Lock)
first all u need to remember what password u input before press F2

It looks like the OP has an Acer aspire as that's what they say they've got. Maybe, just maybe if they could remember the password they would type it in. The whole 'TO MY SURPRISE' bit was a bit of a give-away there really don't you think??
