Lately my task bar, including the Start Menu, has been crashing and completely disappearing. I have been shutting the computer down by calling up Task Manager and using it as a substitute for the link that is normally in the Start Menu window. Since my icons still remain on the desktop and are fully functional after these crashes I was wondering exactly where the Turn Off Computer resides on the hard drive? If I could find it and put a shortcut on the desktop it would be that much easier to turn everything off. Thanks.

Search for Shutdown.exe

I think its C:\windows or C:\windows\system32

shutdown -F -T 00 or -T 01.
