I have read other XP boot hangs but my problem seems different. I have a P4 3.2, 1gig ram, XP Pro sp2.
This problem has just started without any changes to system. When booting, the computer hangs on the Blue Intel screen for approximately 2 minutes before continuing to load seemingly normal. Previously the screen would barely flash by before the XP welcome screen. I have run CHKDSK and even performed boot analyzer test but the results seem to only count the boot process after the hang. From the test the boot seems normal and nothing shows up in Event Viewer either. Trying to boot in Safe Mode can only happen after the hang. This morning I downloaded Seagate's HD checker and it checks OK. I don't know what else to check. Help please.

If this is an older install, run repair off the Windows CD. Very possible a clean install would be a good idea if the install is more than a year of so old. Windows deteriorates/corrupts over time
