My current system was running perfectly on Windows XP Home. Recently, I got a copy of Windows XP Professional through my college's MSDNAA, and a Western Digital Raptor so I decided to put it onto my new faster hard drive for better loading times and whatnot. I took out my old drive to prevent any conflicts and installed XP Pro from the disc I burned. Everything installed perfectly, and I got into the OS without a problem.

Then I went to install the drivers for my hardware, which went fine. After I installed the drivers for my 8600 GTS it prompted to restart, and when I did it first gave me an error about hal.dll being missing or corrupt. It was a problem I had come across before, and it was easily fixed through the Recovery console. However, after I restarted out of the recovery console, I got a message saying there was no boot device found. I checked the BIOS and everything was ok in there, I went into the recovery console again, my C:\Windows directory was fine, boot.ini was fine, hal.dll was fine, but it still wouldn't boot to WinXP. Even after formatting and installing XP again, and just doing a normal restart without installing any drivers, I got the same problem.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? My PC specs are in my signature (the Raptor, Caviars and Deskstar were connnected when I was running XP Home and they worked just fine, I disconnected them after this problem surfaced just in case something was being mean and interfering)

And please don't say hardware problem, I paid too much for that raptor only to have to send it back
Thanks in advance :)
