I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 and every time I want to shut down the usual way, my computer restarts instead of shutting down???? anyone got any ideas how to fix this annoying problem before XP comes out again!
The keyboard commands are a little different: Hit the Windows key, then right arrow to the sub menu. Shut down is the bottom selection
------------------------------Which Chip? Well, it depends on which set of thieving b@stardz you choose to support: The ones who use insider trading to enrich themselves while running their company into the ground, or the ones who illegally pay vendors to not support the first group.

I pressed the windows command on my keyboard (i take it its the ojne with a window on) and this brings up the start button box, click on shut down and this still restarts instead of shutting down??
Actually, Press the start orb (button) and then press that little arrow you see (to the far right). One of the options here is shut down. Press that instead.
Thats the button I always use to shut down the computer (little arrow next to padlock) then choose shut down, but the sysyem goes through the usual shutting down process, then starts back up. I am forced to hold the power button down to shut it off, which windows does not enjoy.
oh, ok. I dunno though... Hmm... if you have a spare XP disc lying around, try making a 4 gigabyte partition and dual boot to XP. See if you have the same problem there.
