Start button and taskbar disappear

I had my start button and taskbar on the top of my screen and could not use it while computing. Guruaid moved it to the bottom and it disappeared after our chat

This sounds like hide is turned on. Hover over where the taskbar should be and if it pops up, right-click and go to properties. From there you should be able to turn hide off.

If the taskbar doesn't show up at all, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and on Task Manager, see if explorer.exe is running.
