I have a computer which needs formating and the windows XP cd won't format for me, I would like to ask, which is the bet formating freeware?

You could use GParted (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php) to delete all partitions and recreate them.

Generally the hdd mfg has software for installation/diagnosic/repair. sometimes the installation program is a separate one If it's your only hardware, you'll have run from a Floppy
