I'm having problems with Windows Xp.The problem is that i can't seem to run few services like dxdiag, msconfig, regedit etc. Also few prgrams are not running either.WMP doesn't run and occasionaly notepad and wordpad also don't run.I've searched for viruses but couldn't find any.IE is running now but in previous installation ir was also not running. Then on welcome screen the system got stuck and i couldn't even bring up task manager.I had to re-install windows.I formatted the drive but still having problems with programs.I mamnaged to run notepad from windows folder. Also some of right click option don't work either like "properties","open with" options. And nothing can be run by using "Run" box.

Also few setup files give error like "Can't create link to dynamic library",whats that all about. My HD is ok as its relatively new one so what seems to be the problem.Any help will be appraciated.

If you're doing a clean install, i.e., doing a full format before installation, it's possible you have corrupt version of Windows. Does this happen immediately after the install, i.e., before installing drivers, updates, or other programs?

Sounds like your Paths are missing out of your environment.

Go under My Computer - Advanced - Environment Variables and find the "PATH" - Copy and paste that here and let's see if anything is missing. I'm going to guess that C:\windows and C:\Windows\System32 are missing from that. I believe that should fix your computer.

Why or how it became missing is another question.
