A little early I think

Wow $429, looks to be more even more expensive than 8800GTS 640MB.

Yeah... I was hoping it would be priced a little more aggresively. But we'll see how it really performs.
Availability: In Stock !
# 500W+ power supply or 750W+ power supply for Crossfire configuration (two cards)
# Either two 6-pin (2x3) power cables or one 6-pin plus one 8-pin (2x4) power cable. 8-pin power supply cable is only required for users wishing to enable Overdrive.
What is Overdrive ?
Sorry but even though all my builds are AMD Optrons I have to say that is a "rip off" price in my mind.
Really, what can they offer the human eye that a 7900GT can't?
I am not talking about benchmarks.....I am talking about what you or I can SEE with our eyes.
Anyone here follow what I am saying?

It's TigerDirect, what did you expect?
are any other 2900 cards going to show up in a week? Or only this one, which is over 400.

Yes i know what are you seeing but have you see the Crysis hd trailer ? I personally think its worth it to spend like 500$ for a dx10 card and be able to play that kind of almost ( real life ) graphical. You know they can't make card better and better because at the end we will reproduce real life graphic and what its going to be next ??? To be honest, i know i am a bit paranoiac, but i think some games wich required lots of gpu power ( some of them ) are really ugly graphic vs a game that you really fast and its better visual quality, i don't know if its intentionnal or something. Take a look at Win XP and Vista what you can't do in win xp that you can in vista except some little visual effet and the fact it need a more powerfull system to run it, i know vista point is DX10 but other then that.
DRM? =)
Just went to "This item is no longer available". Rather bizarre to see that happen over the course of just a few minutes. Noticed something else: the ad says you can download and install the DirectX 10 update! Wondering if the ad was prematurely posted or perhaps was still in draft form.

I hear you, hopefully prices will go down later in the year. $300 is the most I'm willing to pay for a graphics card, hopefully ATI's mid-range cards are priced much lower.
Yeah, right.
From Tigerdirect:
"DirectX 10 Technology
DirectX 10 improves the graphics, security, and performance of your operating system. Download and install this update for your Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP-based system."
DX10 isn't suppose to work with XP. Or am I missing something here?
Its obvious they excluded many things, NDA in action. They havnt upgraded their info at all, like for CF, you dont need it for the 1300 or 1600. Thats right off the ATI sight, the CURRENT site. On the 14th, all this "info" will change
$410 OEM at ewiz!

Anyone else find it strange that they are selling the cards to the public, but the press NDA is still in effect?? Wtf??
That's because eWiz is selling the X2900XT.
again: is this the only model now, or there will be more, cheaper cards showing up this days?
From what I understand the HD2900XT is the only card being initially released. Sounds like another month or 2 for the 2400/2600 series.
doesnt anyone else wonder why theyre not posting any of the packaging?

No.
Did you miss the GF8600 sales at stores before the nV NDA lifted?
Seriously, that was like 3-4 weeks ago, same thing happened.
Because they don't have the official release info yet. My guess is that they're publishing information as soon as they get it and then someone else is pulling their hair out saying "you can't put that out!!!" You can bet that all of the retailers want to be the first to have the cards for sale.
It helps build suspense. Just look at how many people are watching the threads with baited breath to see what news and speculation the next hour will bring
I guess they made a mistake and corrected it or they already sold what they had.
Also, you guys missed that it was an HIS card. These are always more expensive than what would mormaly be released. I expect ( hopefully ), that the cards released nex week will be $75 bucks cheaper.
Late yesterday some prices on the 8800/640 were already dropping, and in some cases as cheap as the overclocked 320 cards. Nice to see a price war coming. Unfortunately there's still nothing to compete with the 8800gtx.

If you click on the OP's link, this is what you get. What I find is hilarious is that all the choices they bring up on the first page are Nvidia cards.
Man oh man its getting closer hehehehehe

RAM isn't everything though, and if it gives you higher FPS than the 8800GTS 640MB who cares? (I really hope for ATI/AMD that it does)
BTW, this place is trying to sell for 470.97:

Try playing Oblivion with any level of detail then come talk to me. Once you put your system through that you'll know why you need a 2900.
BTW, on a side note, this place says they have 40 in stock:

The High price was understandable. A card that is being pre-sold before launch and with limited numbers, plus the fact that it's the latest and for what most consumers know the greatest, so they will of course they will let the knowledge of supply and demand kinda influence pricing. 8)
I'd rather have a 8800GTX or look for best price/performance ratio in the high end cards.
Wow, did NVidia already drop their prices, TigerDirect has the EVGA 8800GTS for $330! Hopefully that $430 you saw for the 2900XT will drop a little, unless the card has awesome performance. Only two more days!
Yeah NewEgg also has it for $330 after a $30 mail in rebate.
Umm, the 8800GTS 320mb has been under $300 for over a month now.

Yeah. That's one BEAST of a value if you ask me.
And even better yet:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130082
$279.99, $259.99 after MIR.

If it's up to me I think that paired with a good dual core I'd get the 640 or OC'd version of these cards. The extra cost is worth it IMO, especially if Vista makes good use of the extra mem.

I have taken that killer deal on the 8800GTS, if only Nvidia's vista drivers worked.
I was talking about the GTS 640MB. I know the GTS 320 is an awesome deal, but the 2900XT is more in the GTS 640 or GTX range (hopefully).
I still think it's worth it to get 2-320's in SLI over just about anything else.

You know, I think the nVidia Vista drivers thing is just as much FUD as the initial ATI "benchmarks". I tried running Oblivion in Vista and XP both with the latest drivers for each OS on an 8800GTS and the difference is maybe 1 or 2 FPS at most. And I have had ZERO driver stability problems. From what I have heard the first few months were rough driver wise but the latest release is fine, at least on my system.
If that's true, good to know.
