Have you set the CDROM to be first in the boot priority (in the BIOS)?

replaced cd drive. it has no hard drive in it.i want to see if it reads boot disk.

I think its F12 on the G40, which I'm currently working on myself. Very rare laptop as far as I've seen.

Use the boot menu, make sure the CD is bootable. Is it an original or a copy? The copy may not have taken.

If not, run the CD in Windows and I think it'll take it from there for you.
