Ubuntu gvideo card issues

I have ubunt 9.03 instaklled
i have a geforce 5200fx from i did the driver search on nvidia installed the latest driver manually because with installing the restricted drivers via ubuntu interface i couldnt change screen res past 640x480 and still cant

i have also tried dpkg-reconfigure-xorg-xorg or whatever that command was dont know if i got it right and i get quite a few errors starting with (ee)

What kind of display do you have?

You should have the option to select your display or select a generic display with similar specs so you can adjust the resolution.
