Hello all, im new here so Greetings to everyone :D

I just got myself a new system:
P6N SLI Platinum
E6300 Week 26, stepping 6, Rev. B2
2 gb. PC6400 OCZ platinum xtc.

I have read a lot about overclocking Conroe's so i wanted to give it a shot couse i bought this processor very cheap :)
Problem is i have Vista 64bit and it wont run any coretemp. programs except MSI's own Dual Core Centre witch reads the same temps as in the bios i believe.....

I have come so far:
400 FSB @ 1.375 Volt
NB @ 1.4 Volt
Running Orthos for over an hour now, no errors and Dual Core Centre doesnt get above the 48C...

My question is.....is this ok or are the volts + temps a bit to high??? :?

Thx in advance!!

And i forgot to mention, something i worry about is that my memory now sucks 2.7 volts :S ! Isnt that way to high? I have the memory voltage settings at auto, when i put it at 2.35 volts vista wont load....!

Yeah, 2.7v is like juggling chainsaws, 2.4v-2.5v is the border between safe and dead DIMMs within a week.

Change the voltage to manual and turn it down!

The weird thing is that when i try to change the voltage down with the manual setting, Vista wont start up! And even weirder, when i reset the bios to normal settings (witch has the memory voltage settings at auto also) it still runs at 2.7 volt!!

Huh, well, 2.7v will kill your DIMMs, if you can't drop the voltage down I suggest that you not use that pc for the time being.

Will Vista not boot even when the ram is running at stock speeds and volts? Or will it ONLY work if you set it to auto, no matter what voltage it's set at manually?

I have just putted the bios back to normal settings, so no overclock and Dual Core Centre still gives me 2.7 volts for the memory. When i reset, enter the bios and manually put it to 2.3 vista will load, start but crash after like 1 minute.....
Also, ive never clocked the memory, it was 800mhz standard and the memory voltage control was also standard on auto.......i dont get it

Is 2.3v the lowest you can go? From what I can tell, your ram's stock voltage is 2.1.

Its just weird, at 2.3 i get a Blue screen of Death....
Could it be that the 2.7 it reads is the total of both memory banks? i have 2 gb in total, it was a dual channel box.

Nah, your ram wouldnt run at 1.35v.

Try using a single stick, one of them may be damaged.

Ok i have just switched the two DIMMs to the other slots and manually putted them to 2.2 volts. Vista starts and everything does what its supposed to do :D But Dual Core Center still says its 2.7volt so i think it also gives wrong readings... 8O

Does someone know another program witch reads the voltage that is given to the memory so i can check it??

why dont u go to the hardware monitor in the bios, it should say wat voltage ur memory is @... like it doesnt matter if i give 1.4v to my cpu in the bios, because in the SAME BIOS, thers sumthin called "hardware monitor" that tells u the speed of ur fans and all that stuff... it should say wat REAL VOLTAGE ur givin ur memories :D

Allright, the mem problem is fixed :) It must have been a bad reading..

Now i have my E6300 clocked at 2.7 ghz @ 1,350 and my temps in TAT come to 68C when full loading...ive seen the tempature guide and this should be the limit i think....are there more people who have these temps or would it be advisable to clock it back a bit.....

THX!

Nope 68C is fine, i would go 70C max, i think C2D's automatically shutdown at 80C anyway..
