Just wanted to get your general opinion on the AMD64 X2 6000+ processor and the Asus Crosshair R.O.G. mobo. Are there any issues with these components?

Any input would be appreciated before I go and spend good money on them.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply "eregular".

Do you have any particular reasons against the "AMD64 X2 6000+ Processor on Asus Crosshair R.O.G." setup?

don't do it!! get nforce 680 and a a cheap C2D...you won't regret it
Do you even know if he is going to OC?! Because, with all the performance of a cheap Core2 (E4400/4300, E6300/6400), the X2 6000+ is still a better performer without OC-ing.

The Crosshair is a very good board and quite future proof with K10 on the horizon... No issues that I'm aware of, apart from the fact that the 6000+ will run the memory at 750 at stock

When you say you're going to spend good money on them, how much are they gonna cost you exactly?

The reason Im asking is that currently the Crosshair goes for an extremely reasonable 150 euros around here (for comparison's sake, the P5B Deluxe is 165)

Sounds good, and with K10 on the horizon, I'm glad i got a good board like that. There shouldn't be any issues, and the board os great. The BIOS especially are very easy to use.

The big question here i think is, are you going to overclock?

Yes or no, i would at this point stick with AMD, in order to have the upgrade path. And yes, I know all abou the penryn boards...
