With this message i used the F1 key and it worked again. Now 5/10/11 it comes up with "Non-Sustem disk or disk error and the F1 key does not work. I have all my bookeeping on this PC and getting a nervous breakdown. Can you please help me?

Personally, I would remove the drive and hook it up to another PC to see if you can access and copy your Peachtree files. Alternatively, you could remove the drive, insert a new or spare one, install Windows, then connect your old drive to try and retrieve the files you need.

I'm assuming your Compaq has a floppy drive... you could also try creating a bootable DOS disk and accessing the hard disk from there. Booting from a Windows installation disc to attempt a recovery may also work, provided the hard drive itself isn't damaged.
