Norton 360 slows multitasked in Vista down to a crawl when TWO OR MORE programs are trying to access the hard drive at the same time. It was so bad that I almost went back to XP. I FINALLY found the answer on this guys site: Once I uninstalled Norton 360, the mutitasking slowdown went away immediately. I would imagine that Norton 2007 has the same issue. JUST SAY NO TO NORTON!
http://tech.kateva.org/2007/03/vis [...] rable.html "The worst offenders are the anti-virus suites with real-time protection. According to these results, the latest Norton Internet Security degrades boot time by nearly 50 percent. And no, that isn't a typo in the disk column. It also makes all disk access sixteen times slower!" PS Norton 360 is also a pain to uninstall. Need disk and the Norton removal tool from their site.
It's been working great. The only thing I've noticed so far is the email scan seems to slow things down a bit in "windows mail".
Norton is a big, slow hog of program.
I had it on my last XP machine. It does a good job keeping viruses out, but eventually I started having problems with it, even after a reformat of XP. Eventually uninstalled it. I couldn't believe how much it affected my computer and how it slowed things down.
