Need insight on my pc with windows 98 OS

Hi I've hooked up an older model laptop (compaq presario 1235 notebook with windows 98 OS) and have no idea how to get this particular pc to connect to internet. I currently have dsl access and its been a cinch getting my newer model PCs on the net in the past, but i'm stumped when it comes to this machine. It has no wifi capabilities that I know of and no place to plug in my ISP's ethernet cord ; however, it does have a place where a basic phone line can be linked to it . Thanks in advance to those who can help.

You will need a dial-up account with an ISP in order to make use to that modem.

(You're old enough to know what a dial up modem is, right? I FEEL SO OLD EVEN ASKING. )

hula - just to add - if you have USB - Lookup NetGear FA120 USB to ethernet converter. Then you can use DSL.
