For your information, this is what happens:

from the windows server, I am trying to access a machine under the NT domain:

I did \\machinename

At this point, I get the windows popup to enter id and password to this NT domain.
Here I entered:

ntdomain\username

The following which I entered is correct (from other machine, this password is accepted). At this point, the error will be given saying the login is not successfully. Immediately from here, the NT account is locked out. (confirmed when I check at the NT domain controller).

Please advice what triggers this? How to overcome this?

Thanks.
