Ok I\'m new at this so can anyone tell me how to configure my wireless card or to even run it from ethernet?
I'm running backtrack and I don't see any wireless configuration icons or anything.

Depends on what wireless card, due to the nature of Backtrack (Version?) only a limited number of wireless network cards will work correctly.

There are a couple of threads on known working and non-working hardware over at:

I have version 4 but the thing is it doesn't even connect through ethernet.

Have you read through the wiki https://wiki.remote-exploit.org/backtrack in particular https://wiki.remote-exploit.org/bac [...] etworking; if you are still having problems maybe you'd be better off trying something like nUbuntu or Pentoo.

I hope this helps, DaskX. When I had this problem a few years ago, it was the driver. I wasn't using Backtrack, but when I installed "driverloader" from Linuxant, I was then able to configure my wireless (Linksys) NIC. I recommend you get a free copy of the driver, to see if it works, and decide if you would then like to purchase it (back then it was less than $20 per machine). I pasted a URL for driverloader below.
