Just got a call from one of the grandkids, the problem is she has sound when she logs in under her user name but when anyone logs in under another sound there is no sound. She's using onboard audio, realtek. Drivers are installed and no problem in Device Manager. Using Media Player and nothing is muted. Any ideas? Thanks

Only thing I could say is to look at the volume controls to make sure they're all showing and unmuted/not turned down.

We checked that and volume was up and nothing is muted. Told her to try the free version of Media Monkey, I have the paid version, and works well. Have to call to see if that fixed it. Given the other people using the machine, who knows how they screwed it up. Cleaned up her old one, she just built this one, and gave it back for the others in the house to use, unfortunately, they don't have a router. May be their family Christmas present if I can convince the wife, will make my life considerably easier. :D

Just mouth words to them and make an appointment to get their ears checked. :)

I'm not aware of individual settings that would go across all profiles except one. User rights maybe? Or a setting within WMP? I don't use it all that much so I'm not familiar with the internals of the program.

Next time i talk to my g-daughter I'll suggest that. Other than Windows and Office I avoid all things Microsoft not much help with Media Player. Only reason I use them is I'm too lazy to learn Linux and all the alternative programs. Thanks
