Just curious. Purchased 4 gigs of RAM, thinking of upgrading. I'm going to assume that there shouldn't be anymore significant driver issues (all the gear in my rig is 2007 fresh). However, I'm wondering if there are going to be any strange software conflicts that are going to blindside me. I'm mostly concerned about my sound-editing programs and the attendant asio4all driver that I use.

The real question, I suppose, is whether x64 is worth it. I didn't think it was worth the hassle when it was first released; have things changed since then?

I didnt have any major probs with XP 64bit.... Aslong as 64bit drivers are available should be ok. All drivers worked fine for me except for Creative Xi-Fi Extreme (doesnt seem to be a functional line-in, and no bass/treble controls - ended up using SB Audigy Platinum, seems all versions of windows have the same issues). Audigy seems to be a better device anyway. Maybe the full blown Xi-Fi solves these issues.

i had a similar config., an e6700 with 4 GB & a copy of XP64. plus,
Max 9 and Maya 8, 64 bit versions of each.

it got complicated. it meant giving up a lot of old favorite software
aps. and, a favorite scanner, an HP with a solid document feeder
and software that makes *.pdf's. the more recent HP scanner i
had only makes *.jpg's.

by the time i got through this, i had loaded Max and Maya
about 3 times. on the same machine, but, still, i didn't want to
endanger my registrations by keeping pursuing XP64. i went
back to XP32.
