Today i decided to reformat my entire hard drive because DX was acting up and no matter what i did there was always errors, so i reformatted reinstalled windows xp, installed all required updates for SP1 etc... then i got up to SP 2...... (PLEASE note that i did not have ANY TYPE OF VIRUS SCANNING SOFTWARE INSTALLED neither did i have a firewall or anything of the sort, i was wide open if you will.), well i tried it and while it was installing the SP2.cab file, poof an error pops ups saying "Control ID not found" , then it says that "SP2 installation not complete", so i look in my svcpack.log and this is what it said:

windows xp-kb835935-sp2-enu.exe is the downloaded complete sp2 upgrade off of msoft site. It is used by IT people to update. It is a big stand alone update for most if not all versions. Download it and burn to cd. Then run. It will save many downloads and is redistributable. You also do not need to put sp1 to it as sp2 is cumulitive
