I have a Win98 computer with a boot sector virus. I've been trying to get rid of the virus on my own. I cleaned out the hard drive and reinstalled the OS twice, and both times, the virus was still present. Also, I made sure the start-up floppy was write-protected. In fact, the second floppy was created through an image downloaded from the internet. Is there any quick easy and inexpensive way to eliminate the virus? I wouldn't mind cleaning the hard drive again: the computer has no irreplacable data.

I tried the SYS approach, but it didn't work. However, in spite of the data risk, I think Ill try the fdisk /mbr approach. I might have to wait until this weekend because I won't get to access the computer until then at the earliest. Thank you!
